Acupuncture is the strategic placement of ultra-thin needles into acupoints on the body that correspond to the patient's condition. The goal is to renew the healthy flow of qi and restore the body to balance. You might be asking "what is qi" (pronouced 'chee')? Qi or life energy is one of the foundations of Oriental medicine and is found in all living things. Qi flows through the body in meridians which are related to hundreds of points on the skin. Pain or illness results when there is a blockage in the meridian and the flow of qi is disrupted. Once placed at particular acupoints, the job of the needles is to release that blockage.
